The first thing you should do when you purchase your pre-owned Volvo is reset all of the settings in the car to the factory defaults. You can do this by following the steps below.
For Volvos with this Sensus System:
For Volvos with the SPA Sensus System:
Tap the tab on the upper edge of the display (you will see Settings or Owner's Manual)
Select Settings
Select System
Select Global Reset
Select Factory Reset
Select OK
This will clear out all of the information previously saved in the car so you can start from scratch. If the subscription for Volvo On Call has expired, and you wish to renew the services, you will need to purchase a Volvo On Call subscription.
The next step will be to download the Volvo Cars app on your mobile device and follow the instructions to create a Volvo ID:
Download the Volvo Cars app from your appropriate store on our mobile device
Click Sign In
Click Create Account
Enter in the email you would like to use for your Volvo ID
An email will be sent to you at that email address, follow the instructions to create a password that must be 8 characters with one capital, and one number or special character
Once you have your Volvo ID created, contact us at Volvo Customer Care via email or telephone or contact your local selling authorized Volvo dealer to have any of the remaining subscription transferred to you and ensure the previous owner is no longer attached to the car or have access to the system
You can then connect with the Volvo Cars app to your Volvo

Volvo On Call is a subscription service. Your subscription includes emergency assistance and security services as well as app services.
Message to indicate that your Volvo On Call subscription will soon be expiring 45 days before your Volvo On Call subscription is set to expire, the message Volvo On Call subscription expires soon will be shown in the car's display. If you are using the Android or iOS version of the Volvo Cars app, you will also receive reminders in the app.
Disabled Volvo On Call subscription
When the subscription period has expired you will be alerted via a message in the car's display showing the text On Call deactivated. This message disappears when the subscription is reactivated.
You will not be able to use the Volvo On Call services when your subscription has expired. That said, the emergency services via the SOS button and automatic collision alert will continue to function. You have to renew your subscription if you want to use Volvo On Call again.
Roadside assistance costs
Roadside assistance costs are included for the first X (varies depending on market) years when you buy a new Volvo. After this time has passed, in most of the markets, Roadside Assistance is offered free of charge providing the car has been serviced regularly at an authorised Volvo workshop.
Volvo On Call can help you get back on the road even if your Roadside Assistance agreement has expired. In this case, you will be asked to pay the cost for the service that is sent out to you.
Extend your Volvo On Call subscription
You can choose between different time periods when you extend or reactivate your Volvo On Call subscription.
Make sure you have access to the vehicle identification number (VIN).
